Privacy Policy

Farm Flow ("we", "our", "the app") is a livestock-farming productivity tool that helps users track on-farm activities, run veterinary & production calculators, save private notes, and read agricultural news. We respect your privacy and have designed the app to collect the minimum data necessary to provide its features.
1. Information We Process
The app processes the following categories of data:
- Locally-stored content — your activities, notes, calculator history, language & currency preferences, and selected species interests. This data lives on your device in encrypted app storage and is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly use the QR-code backup feature.
- Device push token — when you enable news notifications, a randomly-generated push token issued by Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) is stored on our servers so we can deliver news alerts. The token contains no personal information.
- Anonymous usage signals — your selected interface language and species interests (e.g. "swine", "cattle") so we can send relevant news. We do not associate these with names, emails, or phone numbers.
- Contact form messages — if you use the in-app or web contact form, the name and email you provide are stored solely to reply to your request.
We do not collect: precise location, contacts, photo library, advertising identifiers, biometric data, financial information, or account credentials. The app has no user accounts.
2. How We Use the Data
- Deliver news push notifications matching your selected species/language.
- Translate UI strings and news headlines into your chosen language via our translation backend.
- Operate the QR-code data-sync feature (export/import of your notes, activities, and calculator history between your own devices).
- Reply to contact-form messages.
3. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services and shares only the strictly necessary data with each:
- Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
- OpenAI & Google (via Emergent LLM Gateway) — translation of UI strings & news headlines. Only the public source text (English) is sent; no personal data is transmitted.
- Public RSS news sources (Pig Progress, Beef Magazine, Poultry World, AgroIntel, etc.) — fetched server-side and proxied to the app. No personal data is shared with the news sources.
4. Data Retention
Push tokens are kept only while the device remains active. Tokens that stop responding are removed automatically after 30 days. Contact-form messages are kept up to 12 months for support purposes and then deleted. All local data on your device can be wiped at any time by uninstalling the app.
5. Your Rights
You can at any time:
- Disable push notifications in the app Settings — this removes your push token from our servers.
- Delete all on-device data by uninstalling the app.
- Request deletion of any contact-form message you sent by emailing contact@farm-flow.app.
6. Children's Privacy
Farm Flow is a professional tool intended for farmers and agricultural workers. We do not knowingly process data from children under 13.
7. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS 1.2+. The translation cache and push-token store are isolated from the public internet behind authentication. We follow the principle of least privilege for internal access.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
